The former plans to make use of Dynamic Yield’s specialized decision technology to personalize “outdoor digital Drive Thru menu displays to show food based on time of day, weather, current restaurant traffic and trending menu items.”

The technology is also able to quickly suggest and highlight additional items based on a customer’s current selection. According to McDonald’s, this acquisition enables the fast food giant to be the first to integrate decision technology into its point-of-sales system at a physical location.

Upon its successful acquisition of Dynamic Yield, McDonald’s will also integrate the decision technology to all its “digital customer experience touchpoints, such as self-order kiosks and McDonald’s Global Mobile App.”

The company will roll out its enhanced ordering system in its drive-through restaurants in the United States this year; global expansion to top international markets will occur in the near future. As piquantly observed by Wired, customers will be getting a serving of Big Data with their Big Macs very soon.
