The inaugural Under Armour Combine will be held at Pasir Panjang Power Station on 20 Aug
A "combine" is essentially a fitness benchmarking event for athletes to see how they stack up against the competition.

Yes, it is in fact quite amusing to see a bunch of people who spend the majority of their time behind a computer writing about sports and fitness events. But putting our physical conditions aside, if you're an athlete who's a little unsure how he stacks up against other athletes, either locally or regionally, you might want to attend the inaugural Under Armour Combine.
The event, which will be hosted at the iconic Pasir Panjang Power Station on 20 Aug will offer athletes of all sporting backgrounds and training disciplines a chance to see how they match up against the competition. Each run is comprised of a grueling eight stations which focus on various physical aspects. Here's a list for reference:
- Agility: Arrowhead Change-of-Direction Speed Test
- Stamina: Pull-Up Beep Test
- Vertical: Standing Vertical Leap Test
- Power: 20m Sled Push
- Endurance: 20m Beep Test
- Strength: 3RM Bench Press
- Speed: 40 Yard Dash
- Cognition: Reaction Inhibition Test
Naturally, there are incentives to motivate participants too. By completing stations, athletes will gain a number of points based on their performances, and the first, second and third-placed athletes (for each gender) will receive corresponding UA Combine 2022 medals and cash prizes of S$5,000, S$2,500, and S$1,000 respectively.

Now, if you're wondering what exactly a "combine" is, it's basically a benchmarking event of sorts that athletes can use to get a gauge of where they stand physically. Of course, it's not exactly like a fun fair, in the sense that the combine will only be able to accommodate 300 participants (150 men and 150 women) at a time. Three other combines are already scheduled to take place in other regions like Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, and Bangkok between August and October.
And here I thought we only covered tech, gaming, and the odd vacuum cleaner.
