Facebook Apps Leaking User Names to Advertisers

Here we go again, another Facebook debacle. In a recent investigation by the Wall Street Journal, it has come to their attention that popular Facebook apps such as Farmville have been leaking user information to advertisers and internet tracking companies. And this issue doesn't just affect the app user, spilling over to those on the users' friends list, even with the strictest privacy settings imposed.

Reuters - Facebook users are inadvertently providing access to their names and in some cases even their friend's names to advertising and Internet tracking companies, through some popular applications, the Wall Street Journal said.



According to the Journal's investigation, the issue affects tens of millions of Facebook app users, including people who set their profiles to Facebook's strictest privacy settings, the paper said.
