Disney and Netflix to stop production projects due to Covid-19 risks
Disney and Netflix have paused productions on current films and TV shows as a precautionary measure to stop the further spread of the coronavirus.
The worsening Covid-19 situation has led to Disney and Netflix stopping their productions on current films and TV shows.
According to The Verge, Netflix confirmed that it is halting scripted TV and film production in U.S and Canada for two weeks due to government restrictions, health and safety concerns. Disney said it made the decision to stop production on some live-action films for a short time after considering the current situation and the best interests of its cast and crew.
For Netflix, the two-week pause is said to have affected production of Stranger Things, Grace and Frankie, Sex/Life and Ryan Murphy's The Prom. For Disney, high-level productions such as the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid are affected.
Disney announced yesterday that the releases of Mulan, The New Mutants, and Antlers are postponed out of an abundance of caution. Other movie studios also delayed the releases of their films to later dates such as Paramount Pictures' A Quiet Place Part 2 and The LoveBirds, and Universal Pictures' Fast & Furious 9.
