Apple has announced that with iOS 18, eligible users in the US and UK will now be able to access flexible payment options and redeem rewards, whenever they make their checkout online and in-app with Apple Pay on their iPhone and iPad.

While these options are only available for US and UK now, Apple users in Singapore, Australia, Spain and Canada will also be able to do the same in the future. For the Singapore market, Apple has said that it is working with DBS to bring the same installment payment options and rewards redemption locally.

This is quite a game-changer for Apple Pay, even if details from Apple (and DBS) are scarce at this point. For instance, there are bound to be financial requirements and credit worthiness to be considered by the bank for eligible users. For clarity, this also isn’t the same as the existing arrangement that Apple has with local banks including DBS, UOB and OCBC, where you can purchase Apple products on a zero-interest installment plan.
