Amorepacific has a tactile sensor that can measure skin sensations

Amorepacific and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) claim to have developed the world's first tactile sensor that can measure skin sensations.

The sensor is stated to be ultra-thin, flexible and able to withstand external pressure and stay intact to allow stable measurement of skin senses when adhered to the skin.

Utilising machine learning and measurement technology, the tactile sensor can recognise temperature, moisture levels, and the type of solution used, and convert these information into digital values. This allowed Amorepacific and UNIST to provide verified and accurate results by comparing the cool and warm sensations of cosmetics for evaluation. 

Amorepacific and UNIST believe it will enable the development of cosmetics with finetuned textures and spark innovation in the beauty industry.
