Believe it or not, this is the second collaboration between the Gundam franchise and watchmaker Solvil et Titus

The first was the Char’s Counterattack collection which took inspiration from the anime movie of the same name, consisting of two watches based on Amuro Ray’s RX-93, and Char’s MSN-04 Sazabi. That collection was released a year ago, but Solvil et Titus has released a new series that goes back to the franchise’s roots, called One Year War: A Time of Conviction.

It consists of five limited edition watches based on Solvil et Titus’s Voyager and Saber Collections, and takes inspiration from Amuro Ray and the Red Comet’s mechs from the original series.

The RX-78-02 Saber chronograph (left) and Voyager automatic watch with stainless steel bracelet (right) also both feature unique depictions of the Gundam on the caseback.

These are the two watches based on the RX-78-2 Gundam, the face of the franchise. The first watch is a Voyager automatic watch, featuring sapphire glass and comes with either a stainless steel bracelet or silicon strap, while the second watch is built on the Saber chronograph.

They take some obvious cues from the RX-78-2, including a blue bezel with ‘U.C.0079’ engraved, a prominent E.F.S.F. symbol on the face and a crown with the Operation V emblem etched on the side.

Both watches also have their own unique design elements on the front. The face of the RX-78-2 Voyager depicts a skeletonised illustration of Gundam defeating Char’s Zaku II with a beam sabre for the first time, while the Saber watch adds a mech aesthetic to the three chronograph subdials.

Finally, the Voyager and Saber RX-78-2 watches will also have different depictions of the Gundam on the caseback; a headshot of the RX-78-2 on the Voyager, and an engraving of it on the Saber.

The Zaku II watches are all part of the Saber collection, with two based on the MS-06S and one based on the MS-06F.

Meanwhile the watches based on the Zaku II suits are all based on the Saber collection, with two chronographs and one automatic watch.

It’s no surprise that the colours on the pieces here are pretty bold; the MS-06S Zaku II Saber automatic watch and chronograph both have black stainless steel cases and bracelets and feature a dark red bezel and dial. Like the RX-78-2 Voyager, the MS-06 Zaku II Saber automatic watch features an illustration of the suit, this time under the minute and hour hands.

The MS-06F Zaku II Saber chronograph deviates from the other Zaku II suits by taking the MS-06F’s original green colour. Both the MS-06F and MS-06S chronograph feature the emblem of the Principality of Zeon on the 6 o’clock subdial.

And like the RX-78-2 watches, the caseback of all three watches will have depictions of their respective Zaku II suits.
