Sony has just released the ZV-E10 II, an interchangeable lens camera designed for vloggers and the successor to the ZV E10 from 2021.
The ZV-E10 II has numerous improvements, but two of the biggest ones are its new 26-megapixel backside-illuminated APS-C sensor and faster Bionz XR processor.
The combination of the two means the ZV-E10 II has better 4K video capabilities. It can take 4K footage at 30fps with no crop and at 60fps with a slight crop. Its predecessor topped out at 4K 30fps and that was with a crop.
The ZV-E10 II also records 10-bit 4:2:2 video, which should give users greater flexibility when colour-grading their videos.

Users can also expect better battery life because the ZV-E10 II uses Sony’s larger NP-FZ100 battery. Sony claims up to 130 minutes of video recording on a single charge – a significant improvement over its predecessor’s claimed battery life of 80 minutes.
However, not much has changed in terms of design. The ZV-E10 II has a prominent grip like most Sony Alpha cameras and a fully-articulating rear screen. The rear screen has a resolution of 1.04M dots – a slight improvement over its predecessor’s 0.92M dots. Like its predecessor, the ZV-E10 II has no electronic viewfinder.

Finally, the ZV-E10 II comes with a new kit lens – the PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS II. The lens is compact and has a useful range of focal lengths for vloggers.
Based on first impressions, Sony's new ZV-E10 II certainly looks like an enticing option for budding vloggers and content producers who are ready to step up to more serious gear. The improved 4K video recording capabilities and longer battery life will be compelling.
Availability and pricing
Availability and pricing details have yet to be confirmed. However, Sony did say that the ZV-E10 II will be available soon, sometime this month.
For some idea of its pricing, the Sony ZV-E10 II costs US$999 (~S$1339) for the body alone and US$1,099 (~S$1,473) with the 16-50mm kit lens.
