The local prices have been announced for the Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS R DSLR cameras with their record-breaking 50.6 megapixel counts.
The Canon EOS 5DS body will go for S$5,099 (including GST) and the EOS 5DS R body will go for S$5,399 (including GST) in Singapore. The main difference between the two is that the pricier 5DS R has low-pass filter cancellation to maximise detail capture.
The two Canon cameras have the highest megapixel count among full-frame cameras today; the recently announced Sony Alpha 7R II mirrorless camera comes in second with a 42.4MP sensor, while the Nikon D810 comes in third with a 36.3MP sensor.
With these prices, the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R sit squarely in-between the general-purpose OES 5D Mark III and flagship EOS 1D X.
