Sigma’s first Art series prime macro lens is here - the new 70mm F2.8 DG Macro
The new lens is the first prime lens to be introduced to the Sigma Art series.
Sigma has just announced the release of a new 70mm F2.8 DG Macro Art lens, and it’s available for sale on their US website now.
From the product page:
The Sigma 70mm F2.8 DG Macro is the first prime macro lens to be adorned with the Art badge. Fully redesigned to deliver exception 1:1 (life-sized) magnification, the 70mm F2.8 DG Macro lens features a new coreless DC motor for extremely smooth autofocus performance. Prioritizing optical performance, the lens features an extending, floating, two-group focus mechanism. This configuration minimizes aberration to produce optimal results at any focus distance.
The lens uses a focus-by-wire system for comfortable and precise focusing and is compatible with Sigma’s electronic flash for Macro shooting, the EM-140 DG, through use of an adapter. At the moment it appears the lens will only be available in Sigma, Canon and Sony E-mounts. The Canon EF mount version is compatible with Canon Lens Aberration Correction to further enhance image quality.
It’s retailing for US$569.00 at the Sigma US website.
No local pricing and availability information as yet, but we'll be sure to update this page when it becomes available.
