Panasonic Previews HX-A100 Wearable Camera at BroadcastAsia 2013
Wearable, point of view cameras have been brought back into the fore of the public consciousness thanks to devices such as the GoPro. Panasonic has been working on the HX-A100 which works in similar ways and comes with wireless capabilities to boot.
Devices such as the GoPro Hero 3 and its slick marketing campaign are responsible for bringing point of view video footage back into vogue. Trying to ride the trend, Panasonic gave a preview of the HX-A100 at BroadcastAsia 2013.
The HX-A100 is a wearable camera and can be mounted on the side of the head. The device is capable of recording video in full HD. Features also include tilt and pan stabilization. Built-in slow motion features add extra spice to your footage. Keeping in mind that the usage for the video camera might be in rugged terrain where it will be exposed to the elements, the product is also water resistant and dust-proof.
What sets the Panasonic HX-A100 apart from other contenders is the fact that it comes with a wireless transmitter. With the help of this addition, you can even broadcast live from on location as long as you have the right equipment available for linking with the camera. An application for smartphones is also available which can help you monitor the video feed from the device.
The HX-A100 has a battery life of 3 hours and the battery is not removable. Panasonic has not made the device available for retail but representative on the floor at Panasonic's at BoradcastAsia 2013 stated that the device will cost US$299.
