Panasonic FacePRO automatically takes your attendance using face recognition
The FacePRO Facial Recognition Technology matches a person face from live or recorded video against a database stored on server.
Even though facial recognition technology is becoming more commonplace globally, there are still endless possibilities for future applications that can transform our lifestyles. We want to use our technological know-how to uncover innovative applications that will not only enhance the experience for consumers, but also change the way businesses engage with them

Those of us who still need to have attendance taken know just tedious the process can be, but Panasonic’s new FacePRO facial recognition system looks to change all that. Paired with Panasonic’s iPro camera, the FacePRO system is able to execute high-speed searches of up to 30,000 registered faces with great precision, identifying your presence without your involvement.
Multiple images are captured and compared against a database on server for accurate identification.
By working with video analytics company Trakomatic, Panasonic’s FacePRO system is also able to quickly and accurately authenticate large groups of people without the need for manual input or tracking. This saves time and effort, while cutting down on the administrative work needed. The accuracy of the system also means that spoofing will be drastically cut down, so you won’t have students signing in for each other in a classroom setting.
If you translate this technology to a retail setting, you can probably envision a situation like in Minority Report, where just stepping into the shopping center triggers personalized alerts. The accuracy of recognition means it would also be a security deterrent for unmanned shops. Panasonic says the combination of smart cameras and built-in analytics with smart store shelves that can read customer selection behavior, as well as personalized self-payment kiosks can truly help complete the customer journey. Facial recognition technology is slowly hitting the mainstream thanks their use in our smartphones. Now we’ll see if solutions like Panasonic’s FacePRO will bring it out to larger environments.
