Nikon has announced a new full-frame mirrorless camera, the Nikon Z5II.
Nikon Z5II
The Nikon Z5II uses a 24.5-megapixel CMOS (full-frame FX-format) sensor with an expanded AutoFocus (AF) detection range that can go as low as -10 EV. This supersedes the predecessor, which had a 24.3MP sensor and a narrower exposure range for AF (-3 EV). Coincidentally, the Nikon Z5II has the same megapixel count as the brand’s vintage-styled Nikon Z f.
Nikon Singapore said the Nikon Z5II's highlights include its 5-axis, in-body vibration reduction system of up to 7.5 stops, and the Expeed 7 image processing engine (the same as Nikon Z f).
In short, this updated camera is designed with a sensor that can capture more image data, process faster, and handle low-light situations better, thanks to its expanded AF range for EV sensitivity. Nikon added that it has 3x faster AF than its predecessor.
Other perks of the Nikon Z5II include its 3D-tracking system and High-Speed Frame Capture, which help it shoot at an extended 14FPS high-speed rate.
The upgraded imaging engine also helps maintain image quality even when shooting at ISO 64,000 (the predecessor is rated at ISO 51,200).
Nine types of subject detection are built into the camera, covering people, animals (dogs, cats, and birds), and vehicles (cars, motorcycles, bicycles, trains, and airplanes). Adding to that is AI-powered Intelligent Scene Recognition to reduce manual input in adjusting the aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and AF.
Handling is also mildly improved with a dedicated Picture Control button that lets users swap Imaging Recipes (stylised presets) in real time. The camera can remember up to nine of these Imaging Recipes.
For videographers, the Nikon Z5II has 4K video support and 12-bit N-RAW recording, which is a new addition to the camera range. You can get 4K60FPS in crop mode (DX mode) and 4K30FPS in FX mode (full-frame mode). Also built-in are N-Log, HLG, and SDR recording options.
As part of the Nikon Z family of cameras, it’s natively compatible with its Z Mount accessories and lenses.
It uses a 3.2-inch touch-sensitive LCD with 2,100k dot for monitoring. The OLED viewfinder also received minor upgrades, with an 18-level brightness control.

Nikon has confirmed that the Nikon Z5II will be available in Singapore, but it has yet to announce its retail date or official pricing. You can register your interest in the camera at its official website here.
