Lytro's light field camera offered one of the most interesting and innovative takes on digital photography in recent years, but there is something lacking that has limited its appeal. Yes, we're referring to the support for Windows. Previously, only Mac users were able to process images taken by Lytro's light field camera, leaving Windows users out in the cold. And due to Lytro's proprietary file format, it's impossible to edit the photographs with your usual photo-processing software.

However, that's about to change. Lytro has just announced today that a Windows-compatible software has been released. Windows users can now start hopping onto the light field camera bandwagon, but do take note that the software only supports machines that have at least an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB of RAM and are running the 64-bit version of Windows 7.
