This is the new Sofort 2, a hybrid instant film camera, that Leica is putting out to do battle with Fujifilm's popular Instax cameras

It's a versatile little thing. Not only can it print photos that it takes, but owners can also print photos from other devices by sending them to the Sofort 2 using the Leica Fotos app.

To make printing fun and to allow owners to express their creativity, the Sofort 2 features 10 "Filmstyles" or filters and 10 "Lensstyles" that they can use to give their photos a particular look or vibe.

Speaking of looks, the Sofort 2 is also a handsome little thing and has an aesthetic that, I think, successfully straddles the line between modern and retro.

I think people will look at it and feel that it's a camera that they want to be seen carrying. It will be available in black, white, and ed.

The Sofort 2 features a 1/5-inch CMOS sensor that captures images of around 4.9 megapixels. The lens is a fixed Leica Summar 2.4mm f/2, which is roughly the equivalent of 28mm in frame full terms.

It has internal memory that can store approximately 45 images, and it also has a microSD card slot that supports up to 1GB microSD cards.

It charges via USB-C and its built-in battery, when fully charged, can print up to 100 photos.

Availability and pricing

The Leica Sofort 2 is priced at S$580 and is available now in black and white. You can find it on the Leica Flagship Store on Lazada and the Leica Online Store.

The red version will be available starting 9 November 2023 and will be available exclusively on the Leica Online Store.
