Insta360's new X5 cam has larger sensors, replaceable lens, and AI

Insta360 recently unveiled its flagship 360° action camera, the X5. 

Compared to the X4, the X5 has larger dual 1/1.28" sensors that capture more light per pixel. It also sports a new replaceable lens design, which allows you to swap out damaged lenses on the go. Additionally, the lenses are crafted from a new, high-strength, scratch-resistant glass. 

Another key differentiation is the use of an industry-first triple AI chip. The triple AI chip consists of a 5nm AI chip and two Pro imaging chips to reduce noise for cleaner images in any shooting conditions. The extra 140% computing power also ensures clearer, brighter, and more vivid footage. 

The X5 has a new dedicated mode for low-light recording called PureVideo. It relies on advanced AI noise reduction and dynamic range optimisation for clear, vibrant videos in low light conditions. Active HDR recording is also enhanced to 5.7K at up to 60fps. 

There is a new InstaFrame mode that captures an instantly shareable flat video and a 360° video simultaneously.

Other new features include a built-in wind guard and improved audio algorithm to silence wind noise for a sharper sound, a longer-lasting (up to 185 minutes of recording in 5.7K), faster-charging (0 to 80% in 20 minutes) 2,400mAh battery, and IP68 waterproofing up to 15m (vs 10m on the X4).

Aside from the new X5, Insta360 also launched an updated app, which has a sleeker user interface and new tools for easier editing, such as a one-tap Dewarp button to remove fisheye distortion, and a one-tap export option with no editing and re-framing.
