There's little question that Fujifilm's recently announced X100VI is the hottest camera now. Its predecessor was sold out in most places and it seems like the new X100VI is equally, if not more sought after.

According to a report, Theo Georghiades, general manager of Fujifilm UK, said:

This is the most successful launch we’ve ever had! With the new camera, we’re excited to open up sales to new customers. It’s our biggest pre-orders numbers in history, and Fujifilm’s biggest-ever launch in terms of numbers. I’ve never seen anything like it.

And I can confirm this by doing a quick check with several retailers on Carousell in Singapore. All of them told me that the first run of cameras was sold out and that I should put in a small deposit if I wanted to secure a unit from the second run, which would likely arrive between March and May.

Here's another.

In another report, Fujifilm confirmed that its decision to shift production of the X100VI to China was largely because of the unprecedented demand for the X100V. By moving production to China, it said it could double the output from 7,500 units a month to 15,000

While this might sound like a happy problem to have, it's also a tricky one. Fujifilm has to tread a thin line between meeting demand and not over-committing itself in a way that it can't scale back on production or shift production to another product once the initial demand dies down.

Fujifilm plans to announce more cameras later this year at its next X Summit event in Sydney, Australia. Word on the street is that they will unveil the GFX100SII and the successor to the X-T30II.
