Fujifilm announces launch of the Fujinon XF16mm f/1.4 R WR
Fujifilm has just announced the launch of a new Fujinon XF16mm f/1.4 R WR lens for the X-Series interchangeable lens line-up.
X-shooters will have a new prime lens to look forward to in from mid-May it seems, as Fujifilm has just announced that the Fujinon XF16mm f/1.4 R WR will be launched around that period. The lens has an equivalent of a 24mm field of view in 35mm terms, Featuring 13 elements in 11 groups and Nano GI Coating for high image quality, the XF16mm f/1.4 R WR contains two aspherical elements and two ED elements for fantastic image quality with minimal flare and ghosting even at its widest aperture. The lens also has a short minimum focusing distance of 15cm, letting you get closer to your subject for a more dynamic perspective.
A rear focusing system allows the lens achieve focus in as fast as 0.11 seconds, thanks to a built-in high-torque DC coreless motor driving the focus unit. Street photographers who prefer focusing manually without looking into the viewfinder will appreciate that the focusing ring comes with a depth-of-field scale, and the fact that the lens weighs just 375g.
Finally. the Fujinon XF16mm f/1.4 R WR features nine seals in eight areas on the lens barrel, keeping the lens protected from dust, rain and splashes of water. Using a design that absorbs the temperature difference also allows it to operate in temperatures as low as -10 degrees C.
Pricing and exact availability is yet to be announced, but B&H is currently listing it as US$999.95, so we can probably expect it to come in around S$1500.
