According to numerous reports today, Facebook is said to be working on its own standalone camera app.

The app is said to be developed by Facebook's team in London. Once launched, the app will open directly to a camera, much like Snapchat, to allow users to immediately capture and post photos and videos.

Another interesting feature of the app is the support for live streaming, not unlike apps like Periscope.

The impetus for this app is to combat the lack of user originated content. Sharing of original content on Facebook has been on the decline.

Research by GlobalWebIndex indicates that only 37% of Facebook users uploaded or shared their own photos in the first quarter of 2016, down from 46% from last year.
