Almost two and a half years after the release of the Osmo Mobile 6 come DJI’s latest smartphone gimbals – the Osmo Mobile 7P and the Osmo Mobile 7.
Said to have a “range of intelligent features for capturing cinematic-quality footage on a smartphone”, the Osmo Mobile 7 series feature DJI’s seventh-generation stabilization and ActiveTrack 7.0 technology for smoother video capture.

The Osmo Mobile 7P brings back largely the same design as the Osmo Mobile 6 but with a more powerful three-axis smartphone stabilizer. For the times when you need just a bit more reach, the Osmo Mobile 7P also features an extension rod that stretches up to 215mm.
There is again a Side Wheel on the gimbal’s handle that allows you to zoom in or out or adjust focus manually. This will also allow you to tweak the brightness/colour temperature of the fill light from the new OM Multifunctional Module.
Finally, it has a built-in tripod, which makes it ideal for situations where you need stability or when you need to film yourself.

The Multifunctional Module comes standard with the Mobile 7P and allows for enhanced tracking of subjects as well as improved focusing.
Able to maintain focus of a subject in a crowd or reacquire focus even if the subject leaves the frame briefly, the Multifunctional Module works with your camera’s native camera app, live streaming apps, and other camera apps – though it's worth noting that ActiveTrack 7.0 technology only works with the DJI Mimo app – easily fitting into your current workflow.
You can also use new gesture controls to take photos, start/stop recording, or adjust a composition. That makes it a handy companion when working alone.
- Showing your palm to the module starts or stops intelligent tracking.
- Making a “V” gesture takes a photo. It can also start or stop video recording.
- Making a “Double L” gesture with two hands adjusts a subject’s framing.
Osmo Mobile 7 is sleek and light for those on the go

Meanwhile, the Osmo Mobile 7 is the lightest gimbal in its class, weighing approximately 300g. This also comes with ActiveTrack 7.0 technology and has a compact design with built-in storage. Perhaps for the weight savings, this doesn’t come with the integrated extension rod or Side Wheel, but you can still add the Multifunctional Module as a separate purchase. Like the Osmo Mobile 7P, this model also comes with a built-in tripod.
