Fujifilm has updated its entry-level X-T30 camera. The newest version is called the X-T30 III, and it features some nice upgrades for anyone who is currently shopping for a powerful yet relatively affordable APS-C camera.

The big change on the inside of the X-T30 III is a new processor. It gets Fujifilm’s newest X-Processor 5, which means it gets the latest autofocusing technology and film simulations.

Therefore, the X-T30 III can be set to automatically detect and track a wide range of subjects, including people, animals, birds, automobiles, bikes, planes, and trains. And as for film simulation, the X-T30 III has all 20, including Reala Ace, Classic Neg., and more.

Speaking of film simulation, the big change physically is the addition of the Film Simulation dial on the top left of the camera. This gives users quick access to their favourite film simulations.

The addition of a more powerful processor also lets the X-T30 III shoot 6.2K videos at up to 30fps. It can also shoot 4K 60fps videos, but with a slight 1.18x crop.

The rest of the camera is largely unchanged. The sensor is the 26-megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4, and it’s still missing in-body image stabilisation. The rear LCD remains 3 inches in size and has a resolution of 1.62 million dots. The EVF’s resolution is also unchanged at 2.36 million dots.

The X-T30 III is a much-welcomed addition to the X lineup, particularly for readers whose priority is photography. The X-T50 and X-E5 have both gone up substantially in price, while the X-M5 is arguably more targeted at videography. Fujifilm needs a photography-first camera in this price bracket, and the X-T30 III appears to fill that gap.

Availability and pricing

The Fujifilm X-T30 III is S$1,429 for the body alone. You can also get it with the XC13-33mm kit lens for S$1,659. It comes in three finishes: Black, Silver, Charcoal Silver.

Fujifilm hasn’t announced when it will be available for pre-order or when it will go on sale. We will update this article once we know more.
