In pictures: The Nikon D850 (Updated with local pricing and availability)

We had a chance to get up close with Nikon's latest professional camera - the upcoming full-frame D850.

Pricing and availability for the D850 have yet to be announced, but pre-orders are on-going at B&H for US$3,296.95, so you can probably expect it to cost about ~S$4,800 when it gets here.

*Update*

1/9

The D850 is Nikon’s latest full-frame camera. It features a 45.7 MP full-frame BSI sensor matched with an EXPEED 5 image processor and boasts ISO sensitivity from 64-25600. (extendable to ISO 32-102,400)

2/9

It sports a slightly heavier weather/dust resistant body made of magnesium alloy, with a deep grip that helps when handling longer, heavier lenses. The D850 weighs approx. 915g compared to the 880g of the D810 (note that these are body-only weights).

3/9

Like the D5 and D500, the D850 gains a focus joystick for more accurate selection of AF points. Also, the viewfinder offers 0.75x magnification – the highest ever by a Nikon FX-format DSLR.

4/9

The rear 3.2-inch LCD has a 170o viewing angle and a resolution of 2.359 million dots. It does tilt with full touch control, so you can finally navigate the menus like you would on your smartphone.

5/9

Speaking of which, you can use pinch gestures to zoom in and out when you playback images, and swipe left/right to move through images.

6/9

The layout on top is typical Nikon. Compared to the D810 though, the top buttons are now laid somewhat like a triangular pattern, with the movie record button shifted slightly forward.

7/9

Unfortunately, there is no pop-up flash with the D850, so you'll have to bring a speedlight around if you need a fill flash. Alternatively, you can get the optional WR-A10/R10 transceiver to wirelessly control SB-5000 speedlights.

8/9

All the ports you would need for video recording sit on the left of the body.

9/9

Local pricing has just been announced!

The D850 will retail for $4,999 body only, and $5,949 with the AF-S NIKKOR 24-120MM F/4G ED VR as a kit. It's available now at all authorized resellers.
