In pictures: The new Canon EOS 800D and EOS 77D

We take a quick look at two of Canon's latest APS-C cameras - the EOS 77D and EOS 800D.

The EOS 800D is the latest entry-level DSLR camera from Canon. It features a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor with a DIGIC 7 processor. It measures 131.0 x 99.9 x 76.2 cm while weighing just 485g.

To aid beginners, the EOS 800D features helpful on-screen guides to show you what each mode does.

There’s a familiar layout to the controls, and the On/Off switch can also be used to activate movie recording mode, just like with the EOS 760D.

And there’s NFC support for easy pairing to your smartphone too.

The EOS 800D also gains a new video shake reduction mode, which reduces motion blur due to handshake but crops into the image slightly.

On the other hand, the EOS 77D slots just between the EOS 80D and the EOS 70D. It also features a 24.2MP APS-C sensor and DIGIC 7 engine, but weighs slightly more at 493g. It too measures 131.0 x 99.9 x 76.2mm.

The EOS 77D also has on-screen hints for the various shooting modes.

The biggest difference between the two DSLRs lies in the top info panel. Here on the EOS 77D, you can easily see your current aperture and shutter settings.

Also new, is the BR-E1 pictured here, which can be used to trigger both cameras remotely.
