In pictures: The latest additions to the Sony RX family - the RX0 and the RX10 IV

The RX0 is easily one of the smallest cameras ever launched by Sony. It has a 15.3MP 1.0" Exmor RS CMOS sensor matched with a Zeiss Tessar T* 24mm f/4.0 lens. What's unique though, is that you can control up to five RX0 cameras simultaneously from your smartphone via the free PlayMemories Mobile app.

Despite it's tiny size, the camera still manages to pack in a 3.8cm (4:3) TFT rear LCD to act as a viewfinder and to allow for image review. There are also five physical controls on the screen for controls and a proper shutter button, though we wonder if a touch interface might not have been a better option given the lack of space.

As you can see, a full set of ports is hidden behind a rubberized gasket. And that's because the camera is  waterproof down to 10m. It's also shock resistant from heights up to 2.0m, and crushproof under forces up to 200kgf/440lbf/2000N.

Because of its small size, the RX0 uses a relatively small rechargeable battery pack (NP-BJ1), which gives it enough energy for 240 shots, or about 60 mins of continuous movie recording. The camera only does up to Full HD (1920x1080) capture, but can do so at up to 1000fps, just like the other RX family cameras.

Compared to the RX10 IV, the RX0 is absolutely tiny! It measures just 59.0x40.5x29.8 mm, and weighs a mere 110g,with battery and microSD card. Pack three with you, and it's still lighter than a can of Coke! It's available now at all authorized Sony resellers for S$999.

The RX10 IV on the other hand, again features the same incredible 24-600mm f/2.4-4 zoom lens matched with a 20.1MP 1.0"-type sensor with DRAM chip. This time though, it gets a brand new Fast Hybrid AF system, with 315 Phase detection AF points and 25 Contrast Detection points spread across the sensor.

The Focus Range Limiter helps to speed up AF even more, by letting you restrict focus to objects 3m or further away. Meanwhile, AF-A mode lets the camera automatically switch between AF-S and AF-C according to changes to subject motion so you won't have to worry about which mode you're in.

The built-in LCD again does tilt of approximately 109o ^upwards and 41o ^downwards, making it easy to use from all angles. It now has a 1440K-dot resolution, increased from the 1228K-dots of the RX10 III.

One other improvement, is that the rear LCD now allows for the Touch Pad and Touch Focus functions. Touch Pad allows you to shift the focus point by sliding your finger across the screen, while Touch Focus lets you set focus point with just a tap. The RX10 IV is retailing at all authorized Sony resellers now for S$2,499.
