DJI has officially taken the wraps off its Mavic 4 Pro, arguably one of the company’s worst kept secrets. Building on the successes of its predecessors, the new DJI flagship drone comes with enhanced flight time, boosted speed, and a camera system that seems tailor-made for both casual flyers and seasoned aerial cinematographers.

One of the standout features of the Mavic 4 Pro is its three-camera system anchored by a 100MP Hasselblad sensor. Sporting a large four-thirds sensor and a 28mm wide lens with an adjustable aperture from f/2.0 to f/11, the primary camera is designed to capture 6K/60fps footage with up to 16 stops of dynamic range. Accompanying it is a medium telephoto camera and a long telephoto camera that offer users versatility in framing shots without sacrificing image quality. All three cameras support 10-bit D-Log, D-Log M, and HLG colour profiles, delivering 4K/60fps HDR video with a dynamic range of at least 13 stops. For fans of slow-motion contents, the main and medium telephoto cameras can handle 4K at 120fps, while the long telephoto manages 4K at 100fps.

The Mavic 4 Pro's versatile camera is matched by its upgraded 360-degree infinity gimbal. This allows for complete spherical rotation, and I’m excited to get our review unit up in the air to capture sweeping cinematic shots with it. DJI's choice to equip the Mavic 4 Pro with this fully rotatable gimbal marks a notable leap in its pursuit of more immersive aerial footage. It's hard not to draw comparisons with Autel Robotic's Evo Max 4T – which also boasts multi-camera setups – but DJI seems to have outdone its competition with the seamless integration of three distinct lenses, all capable of high dynamic range and crisp resolution.

Flight performance also sees a notable boost – on paper at least. Equipped with a 95W battery, the Mavic 4 Pro can stay airborne longer than its predecessor and has a maximum speed of 90km/h, and the upgraded DJI O4+ transmission system promises a 41km range. Notably, for those keeping within a 30km radius, the drone is capable of transmitting 10-bit HDR video, to help ensure that footage remains crisp and vibrant even over vast distances.

Safety and navigation have also seen a step up. Six fisheye cameras with low-light capability, paired with dual processors, allow for omnidirectional obstacle avoidance at speeds of up to 65km/h. The drone is designed to handle navigation even in low-light environments, as it’s able to map its surroundings and return to its starting point without the need for GPS – a very handy collision avoidance feature for those flying in dense urban areas or under heavy tree cover.

Last but not least is the accompanying RC Pro 2 remote, which gets a huge update. It now features a 7-inch mini-LED display and 128GB of built-in memory, and the remote promises up to four hours of operation. For those with more demanding flight time, the parallel charging hub allows for up to three batteries to be recharged simultaneously.

Availability for the Mavic 4 Pro is now available to order from online platforms including DJI’s Shopee and Lazada official stores and at DJI Stores at Funan Mall or VivoCity, in the following configurations:
