Ever got nagged to pick up your socks off the floor so the robot vacuum could do its job? Well, you could always just get the newly announced Roborock Saros Z70 and that would be a thing of the past.

This new robot vacuum does everything you expect out of robot vacuums, sweeping, mopping, and even lifting its chassis so it can go up and over thresholds with a maximum height of 4cm. But you'll be amazed the first time you see its five-axis mechanical arm lifting out of the top to pick something up.

According to Roborock, the Saros Z70 will detect and mark obstructing objects it can lift during its first cleaning session, then circle back to remove them and clean those areas during its second cleaning pass.

What's really cool is that the robot vacuum can identify objects and move them to their proper designated spot. Socks, for example, go towards the closet or a laundry basket. Crumpled tissues go straight into the rubbish bin, and sandals get picked up and moved towards the entrance rug or doormat.

Currently, the robot vacuum can only recognise and lift socks, crumpled tissues, sandals, and towels under 300g, but Roborock says that new items will be continually added via firmware updates. There will also be an AI-powered recognition feature coming in a future update, which will allow users to define and label up to 50 items.

Equipped with a camera on the mechanical arm and one at the front of the vacuum, this provides better accuracy when gripping objects, and the arm can even be manually controlled via the app.

Despite the addition of the arm, the Saros Z70 measures just 7.98cm tall, which means it should be able to go under most TV consoles and coffee tables to clean as much floor area as possible with its 22,000Pa of suction power. It comes with a Multifunctional Dock 4.0, which is able to wash and dry the mop heads, empty out the dust compartment, refill the water and detergent and more.

Availability and pricing

Unfortunately, there's no information on availability as of yet. However, given the complexity of the arm, it's probably wise to assume that it won't be cheap. We will update this article with more details when we have them.
