Kobo Sage.
Rakuten Kobo (the ebook arm of Rakuten) announced the launch of Kobo Sage and Kobo Libra 2 in Singapore.
Both devices are e-ink e-readers that can accept both ebooks and audiobooks (the latter through their built-in Bluetooth wireless connection). They support EPUB, EPUB3, PDF, FlePub, and MOBI ebook file formats, and they are both IPX8-certified, tolerating water up to 60 minutes and 2m depth.
Kobo Sage.
The Kobo Sage is positioned as a premium, luxury-tier e-reader with tons of optional accessories. SleepCover accessories, for example, allow for hands-free e-reading, while the newer PowerCovers comes with an extra battery to provide additional juice. It even comes with an optional Stylus.
Kobo Sage has an 8-inch HD E Ink Carta 1200 glare-free display (1,920 x 1,440 pixels resolution). It also has adjustable brightness and colour temperature (ComfortLight PRO) for more comfortable reading. By default, it also supports DropBox storage (32GB) to hold all your favourite books.
Kobo Sage officially retails at S$399, with pre-orders beginning on 5 October 2021. It’s available in-store from 19 October onwards.
Kobo Libra 2.
Kobo Libra 2 is an upgraded version of its predecessor, the Libra H2O. This variant packs a faster E Ink screen and Bluetooth connectivity.
It offers a 7-inch HD E Ink Carta 1200 glare-free screen (1,680 x 1,264 pixels resolution), on top of the same ComfortLight PRO features available on the Sage.
Kobo Libra 2 retails at S$289, and there’s also a SleepCover accessory for it at S$59. Pre-order and retail availability are the same as the Kobo Sage - starting on 5 October 2021 before hitting the shelves from 19 October onwards.
