Google might release its AirTag-like item tracker in May.
Developer Kuba Wojciechowski found references that suggest Google is working on support for locator tags in Fast Pair. The item tracker is codenamed "Grogu" and is being developed by the Google Nest team. Similar to the Apple AirTag, it will have an onboard speaker to help users locate it via sound.
Wojciechowski says the item tracker might support Bluetooth LE and ultra-wideband (UWB). He added that the item tracker could be unveiled at Google's I/O Conference in May and be available in multiple colour options alongside the new Pixel phones in fall.
