Here’s a demo of it in action from Dyson’s media briefing session:-

Dyson has just announced the PencilVac, its latest vacuum cleaner, which is as slim as the handles of its Supersonic hairdryers. At just 38mm in diameter, the PencilVac is also the successor to the very popular Omni-Glide that was launched exactly four years ago – thanks to an improved manoeuvrable double brush bar that allows cleaning backwards or sideways too.
The PencilVac has been designed around Dyson’s new Hyperdymium 140k Motor, which, according to the press release, clocks in at 140,000rpm and supposedly offers the kind of performance you’d typically expect from much bulkier units. The incredibly small footprint of the motor (about the size of a 50-cent Singapore coin) enables the PencilVac to adopt a wand-like profile, allowing it to deliver efficient airflow without bulking out the chassis.
According to Dyson, the Fluffycones cleaner head features four conical brush bars designed to lift and strip hair, allowing it to be easily sucked up with minimal tangling.
As with previous Dyson launches, the PencilVac seems engineered to meet an increasingly specific set of use cases. Think quick clean-ups in tight corners, dusty ceiling fan blades, or light sweeps over table surfaces. The brush bar is also designed with anti-static carbon fibre filaments, which is optimised for debris pick-up on hard floors.
