Bosch's Revol smart crib uses AI to keep a close eye (and nose) on your baby

Expecting parents, life with your baby could be getting a bit easier. German company Bosch has just unveiled its Revol smart crib at CES 2025, and it packs in a bunch of hardware and software smarts to keep track of babies in it.
It looks like a normal crib, for the most part, except perhaps for the lamp-esque part that sticks out over the top of the crib. This is the housing for its various sensors and camera, which can be used to do a couple of interesting things.
To start, the Revol crib has a millimeter wave sensor that Bosch says can accurately measure a baby's heart rate and respiration. It can also pick up sounds, and there's even a motor included to raise and lower the crib to soothe the baby. There's also a VOC sensor (volatile organic compounds) built-in so it can even detect if a baby did a number two and needs a fresh diaper.
Finally, it has temperature and humidity sensors, and even a particle sensor to measure air quality. It goes without saying that all this information will be accessible via an app so parents can keep an eye on their kids no matter where they are.
Bosch is also utilising AI here to help keep babies safer and healthier. It can analyse footage from the camera to tell if a baby's face is in danger of being covered by objects like a blanket or soft toys, and also tell how many times the baby kicks off the blanket each night. It can then combine all this information to give an idea of the quality of sleep the baby is getting.
It's too early to tell how accurate or useful these features are, but we are sure parents (especially first-time ones) will be happy to get all the help they can get.
Availability and pricing
Unfortunately, there's no news on availability yet, although it seems like Bosch will be bringing this product to the China market first. We will update this article once we know more.
