Prism+ is expanding beyond televisions and refrigerators with the launch of its first robot vacuum – the Nanobot Elite AI. It will be priced at S$899, although Prisim+ is debuting the machine at COMEX 2025 with a launch promotion.
On paper, the Nanobot Elite AI ticks most of the feature boxes you’d expect from a modern robot vacuum. There’s the by-now standard AI-powered obstacle detection so it doesn’t end up jousting with your pets or chewing on stray socks. The extendable mop arms promise to dig into corners and under low furniture, its self-cleaning hot-water system scrubs and dries the mop pads, and the self-emptying dustbin is claimed to go up to 60 days without intervention. Prism+ has even thrown in a brush that snips tangled hair on its own, along with silver ion sterilisation for the water tank. All of this is tied together through the Prism+ Connect app.
But while the feature list looks impressive, it also highlights how crowded – and somewhat homogenous – the robot vacuum market has become in Singapore. We are already spoilt for choice with models from Dreame, Mova, Ecovacs, Xiaomi and others, many of which carry strikingly similar designs and functions. That’s no coincidence: most of these models originate from a handful of Chinese ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers), resulting in robot vacuums that look and behave almost identically, regardless of the badge on top.
The real question, then, is whether Prism+ can carve out an identity in a segment where most of the hardware feels like it’s stamped out of the same mould. At the end of the day, what separates one robot vacuum from another often comes down to the polish of the app, how reliable the mapping is, and whether the brand actually backs you up with decent after-sales support. At S$899 (or S$699 if you’re nabbing it at COMEX this week), the Nanobot Elite AI sits in that middle ground – not budget, but not ultra-premium either. For many households, that might be the sweet spot. The trick for Prism+ will be convincing buyers that it’s not just another face in the crowd.
