Bosch’s new vacuum cleaner will tell you when your floor is truly clean

Most brands will tell you that their latest vacuum cleaners have more powerful suction, improved rollers that can pick up dirt better, larger battery life, more attachments, or just general performance improvements. Bosch has done the exact same thing with its new Unlimited 10 cordless stick vacuum, but goes one step further to prove it.

The key feature is what Bosch calls MicroClean Technology. In a nutshell, the Unlimited 10 features a built-in infrared laser sensor that can detect particles as small as 0.3 microns and an external LED ring light to indicate level of cleanliness. This sensor is located at the tip of the intake port and constantly scans the quality of air being sucked into the vacuum. An area is considered to be dirty as long as the sensor detects particles (as small as 0.3 micons). In this instance, the ring light would be off or glowing white. When the ring light turns a solid blue, this means that the sensor no longer detects any particles in the air and considers the area to be truly clean.

While I tried the Unlimited 10 at the launch event, I could notice the light go from dark to white to blue, back to white, depending on the area I was vacuuming, so I must say that this visual feedback is pretty helpful to know when to move on from an area. I can imagine scenarios where I’ve accidentally spilled coffee grounds. Instead of bending over to eyeball my floor like I normally do, I just have to check the indicator ring light. My only concern is that there is bound to be dust built-up over time as with all vacuum cleaners, and that will affect the sensor’s accuracy. This means there is a need to clean the sensor area from time to time. How much of an additional hassle this is going to be, I guess I’ll let you know when we properly review the vacuum.

The dust sensor will eventually get dirtier with use. How will it affect it’s performance over time?

In addition to the dust sensor, the Unlimited 10 comes with a new universal MicroCrean brush head with a larger roller to pick up dirt more efficiently and reduce hair tangles. The Unlimited 10 also comes with a larger battery pack (4 Ah or 5 Ah depending on model purchased). The good thing is that Bosch has a universal battery system, so batteries are interchangeable across all Bosch appliances.

The Bosch Unlimited 10 will be available from 15 July 2025 onwards from the Bosch e-store, Shopee, Lazada, FairPrice Online, Bosch Experience Centre, and selected COURTS and Gain City stores. There are two models available, identifiable via their colour. The BCS1051POW comes in black with red accents and is priced at S$1,399. This model features a 5 Ah battery and the most complete set of accessories. The BBS1041RBA goes for S$1,299 and has a 4 Ah battery with a smaller selection of accessories.

During the launch period up till 31 August 2025, if you buy the Unlimited 10 at select Courts and Gain City stores, you can get a S$200 discount plus an additional free gift (Quick Charger worth S$109 or 3 Ah Exchangeable Battery worth S$169) depending on the model purchased.
