As the Samsung Digital Key is powered by NFC and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, users can lock or unlock their car, start the engine, open the trunk, and even activate personalised settings like seat adjustment or mirror position.
The digital key is stored in Samsung Pass and uses Samsung's embedded Secure Element (eSE) for protection against malicious attacks. In addition, the Samsung Digital Key is fully compliant with the digital key standard as defined by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC).
Samsung Digital Key can only work with one car at the moment, the newly launched luxury electric vehicle, Genesis GV60. Samsung has partnerships with Audi, BMW and Ford. Therefore, consumers can expect to see Samsung Digital Key being supported on cars from these brands in the future.
