Qualcomm and Google will work together to create a standardised framework for AI-enabled, software-defined vehicles, said the two companies at the Snapdragon Summit 2024.
According to Qualcomm's announcement, it has entered a multi-year partnership with Google to create a framework that aims to be the new standard for assisted driving and smart cars/EVs.

The framework combines Qualcomm’s automotive portfolio, Snapdragon Digital Chassis, with a host of Google solutions, such as Android Automotive OS, Google Cloud, and Gemini Nano.
Qualcomm has AI Studio SDK and Qualcomm AI Orchestrator to optimise its models' memory, power, and edge performance. Together with Google, both companies would create upgradeable API-based services for connected cars, while being easier to customise and deploy.
The framework has the following expectations for standardisation:
- Upgradeable digital cockpit experiences that can be enhanced in real time.
- Pre-integrated Android Automotive Operating System software and services, using Gemini Nano.
- Plug-in framework based on Qualcomm AI Orchestrator for app development and enterprise needs.
- A unified framework for software-defined vehicle development, based on foundational technologies by both Qualcomm and Google.
- Google Cloud hosted, for faster and easier deployment of software and updates.
- API-driven, applies to both onboard and offboard these vehicles.
