Modified Corvette sets new speed record for world's fastest electric car

A modified all-electric Corvette has just set a new speed record for the world's fast street-legal electric car.

A modified Corvette called Generation GXE has just set a new speed record for world's fastest all-electric street-legal electric car when it clocked 186.8mph (300.63km/h) at the Kennedy Space Center.

Generation GXE is the project of an automotive company called Genovation, which specializes in green car technology.

The car has been outfitted with powerful electric motors and batteries which generate over 700 horsepower and over 800nm of torque.

As you can see from the video above, the team managed to break the record quite easily. In fact, the record was broken at the first run, which means we could very easily much higher speeds in future.

In fact, rivals Bloodshed Motors has a modified Datsun 1200 which they say will break 200mph at The Texas Mile event in April next month.
