Swedish EV maker Polestar has set a new world record for the longest distance travelled by an electric SUV on a single charge.

The distance covered was an impressive 935.44km, and it was achieved using the Polestar 3 – specifically, the single-motor long-range version, whose battery has a large capacity of 111kWh.

Not only did it easily beat its official WLTP range of 706km, it also bested the record of 916.74km set by a Ford Mustang Mach-E last year.

The feat was achieved in the UK and took three drivers 22 hours and 57 minutes to complete. This also meant it managed an average efficiency figure of 12.1kWh/100km, which is remarkable because a figure of 14-15kWh/100km is typically considered to be good.

To put this distance into context, it’s enough to get you from Tuas Checkpoint to the Sadao Border Checkpoint – at the border of Thailand and Malaysia.

The Polestar 3 used was completely standard and features factory-fitted 20-inch wheels and Michelin Sport 4 EV tyres. Polestar, however, did not disclose the route.

The single-motor long-range version of the Polestar 3 has a power output of 295hp and 490nm of torque, and can complete the century sprint in 4.7 seconds. Prices start at S$425,000 (inclusive COE). For more information, visit Polestar’s website.
