Kenny's Top 12 picks from Comex 2022

After what seems like an eternity, Comex is back. I decided to go down to take a look and here are some of the deals that I've found.

Comex is finally back! After what seems like an eternity, Comex is finally back at Suntec Convention Centre Level 4. And, just like the good old days, there's loads of deals to be found and lots to see. I decided to go down to take a look and here are some of the deals that I've found.

1. Gigabyte Aorus 15P YD

The Gigabyte Aorus 15P YD is advertised at Comex 2022 as the cheapest notebook you can find with a GeForce RTX 3080. It goes for S$2,999 (U.P. S$4,098) and it comes with a 15.6-inch 240Hz Full-HD display, an Intel Core i7-11800H processor, 16GB of memory, a 1TB SSD, and GeForce RTX 3080 8GB discrete graphics. You also get free gifts including a pair of true wireless earbuds, a wireless mouse, a wireless Bluetooth speaker, a mouse mat, and a notebook bag. 

 

2. BYD Atto 3

The Atto 3 was recently launched in Singapore and you can see and purchase it at Comex 2022. Its single electric motor generates around 200hp and 310nm of torque, which is enough to propel the Atto 3 from a standstill to 100km/h in around 7 seconds. The battery capacity is 60.5kWh and the claimed range is 480km. It’s going at a promo price of S$185,888 (inclusive COE). The list price is S$247,888. It will also come with 6 years of warranty and 6 months of free doorstep charging.

 

3. ROG Rapture GT-AX6000

The ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 is a stylish dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router that’s capable of transfer speeds of up to 4,804Mbps on its 5GHz network and 1,148Mbps on its 2.4GHz network. If you have high-speed fibre, this router features two 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports. It also has four Ethernet LAN ports, a USB-A USB 3.2 port, and another USB-A USB 2.0 port. It also has a host of gaming features that are supposed to help reduce latency. It’s going for S$659 (U.P. S$699).

 

4. ASUS TUF A15

The ASUS TUF A15 is one of the most affordable gaming notebooks you’d find at Comex. It’s available in various specifications but the entry-level one is good for gamers on a tight budget. For S$1,898 (U.P. S$2,498), you get a 15.6-inch 144Hz Full-HD display, Ryzen 9 5900HX processor, 16GB of memory, a 512GB SSD, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB discrete graphics.

 

5. Dell XPS 13 Plus

The Dell XPS 13 Plus made headlines earlier this year for its controversial keyboard. It has a “zero-lattice” design which gives up space in between individual keys in favour of larger keycaps. It also eschews physical function keys in favour of a row of capacitive buttons. It’s available at Comex with a 13.4-inch 3.5K OLED display, a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, and a 1TB SSD. It’s going for S$2,789 (U.P. S$3,099).

6. Dreamcore Crimson

The Crimson is Dreamcore’s newest gaming notebook. It’s also the world’s first gaming notebook to feature AMD’s Radeon RX 6650M XT discrete graphics. It also has a 15-inch 144Hz Full-HD display, AMD Ryzen 7 6800H processor, 16GB of memory, and a 500GB Crucial P5 Plus PCIe 4.0 SSD. It’s available at Comex at a special price of S$1,985 (U.P. S$2,487).

The Deco M9 Plus might have been around for a while now but it’s still one of the most cost-effective ways to expand Wi-Fi coverage at home. It’s a tri-band Wi-Fi 5 system that can support speeds of up to 400Mbps on its 2.4GHz network and 867Mbps each on two of its 5GHz network. What’s great about tri-band mesh systems is that they can use one of its 5GHz networks as a backhaul network which leaves the other 5GHz network free. A three-pack is going for S$349.

8. Razer Blade 15

If you love displays with ridiculously high refresh rates, you'll love the Blade 15. It’s available with a 360Hz Full-HD display. In this spec, it also gets a Core i7-12800H processor, 16GB of memory, a 1TB SSD, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti discrete graphics. It’s going for S$4,959 (U.P. S$4,799). There are other variants available with more powerful processors and graphics.

 

9. Acer Aspire 5

The Aspire 5 from Acer was one of the most affordable notebooks I could find that comes with a "proper" Intel Core processor. To start, it has a 15.6-inch Full HD display, a Core i5-1135G7 processor, 8GB of memory, a 512GB SSD, and even discrete graphics in the form of the NVIDIA GeForce MX450. It’s going for S$969 (U.P. S$1,098) and it comes with two years of warranty, a free carry bag, and 3 years of anti-virus subscription. There’s also the option to upgrade the memory to 16GB for S$99 and the storage to 1TB for S$130.

 

10. MSI Summit E13 Flip Evo

The Summit E13 Flip Evo is MSI’s convertible notebook and it weighs just 1.3kg. The base model features a 13.4-inch 120Hz Full-HD touchscreen display and comes with a Core i5-1240P processor, 16GB of memory, 1TB SSD, and Intel Iris Xe graphics. This is going for S$2,199 (U.P S$2,399). There’s a pricer variant which has a more powerful Core i7-1280 processor (all other specs the same) and that goes for S$2,499 (U.P. S$2,899).

 

11. Aftershock Lunar 14

The Lunar 14 is Aftershock’s ultraportable notebook. It weighs just 1.05kg and it comes with a 14-inch 90Hz 2.8K display. It also has a Core i7-12700H processor, 16GB of memory, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti 4GB discrete graphics. It’s going for S$2,099 (U.P. S$2,219).

 

12. Google Nest Wifi

Google’s Nest Wifi may longer be cutting-edge but it remains to be one of the easiest to use mesh networking systems you can buy. It's also small and relatively discreet. It’s a dual-band Wi-Fi 5 mesh networking system that supports speeds of up to 2,200Mbps. A two-pack is going for S$289 (U.P. S$428) and a three-pack is S$439 (U.P. S$627).
