Do you exercise a lot, and need music to pair with it? Then, you should be familiar with that sticky feeling around your ears, especially with headphones on. Sometimes, your in-ears would accumulate perspiration, making your earbuds feel disgusting and uncomfortable after a really good workout.
To counteract that, Sharp has the HP-BC50 Bone Conduction Headphones. The HP-BC50 sits over your ears like a typical over-ear headphone, but it relies on bone conduction to transmit audio. The headphones play music as sound vibrations, and these waves are directed into the bones around your ear.
This form of listening leaves your ear holes free and breezy, leaving you open to ambient sounds, like your workout instructor’s guidance or general traffic if you’re cycling/running in the open.

According to Sharp, the HP-BC50 has 2GB of onboard storage for music, IP66-rated water and dust resistance (splashproof), and up to five hours of playback time. It uses proprietary magnetic pins for charging and file transfer, and even has a built-in microphone for answering calls. If you want to listen to songs wirelessly, it uses Bluetooth 5.0 to pair to your music source.
The Sharp HP-BC50 Bone Conduction Headphones are available now at S$189 from Sharp’s Cocoro Life e-store. We’ve checked and saw that it’s S$40 off its RRP, but it’s not clear when the promotion ends.
