Next-gen AirPods to launch in second half of 2018?

Apple is said to be launching the second generation AirPods in the second half of 2018.

The second generation AirPods might be unveiled in the second half of next year.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the next generation AirPods will use a smaller quartz component. As Kuo did not share further details on the specs, the new AirPods could be a small update.

Kuo also shared his analysis on the recent supply constraints of the AirPods; the battery rigid-flex PCB is cited as the main bottleneck in the supply chain. Nonetheless, he expects Apple to ship as many as 26 million AirPods next year. The current AirPods will have an optional wireless charging case, which will be available early next year.
