B&O PLAY launches its first Bluetooth speaker – the BeoPlay A2

Bang & Olufsen has just announced the launch of its first Bluetooth speaker, the Beoplay A2, and it touts 360 degrees of ground-breaking sound with an impressive 24 hours of battery life.

The BeoPlay A2 is Bang & Olufsen’s first ever Bluetooth speaker, and one of its immediate distinguishing features is the fact that it has driver units on both sides of the speaker, with two channels on each side for a full stereo experience no matter where you’re sitting relative to it.

By carefully placing the drivers on each side and implementing Bang & Olufsen’s own Power Response Enhancement solution to ensure that sound radiates optimally around all the edges, giving you what they call a True360 sound experience.

Thanks to a core made of extruded aluminum, the BeoPlay A2 is fairly light, coming in at just 1.1 kg despite having two 30W class D amplifiers, two 3” full-range drivers, two ¾” tweeters and two 3” passive bass radiators. It’s also fairly portable as it measures just 4.4 x 14.2 x 25.6 cm, and the strap-friendly design means you won’t need a separate carrying bag to bring it in.

The BeoPlay A2’s rechargeable battery is rated for a whopping 24 hours, thanks in part to "Adaptive Power Management" technology, which monitors and anticipates the incoming audio signals so that it feeds only the exact amount of power needed by the amplifiers - and only when they need it. What’s more, Bluetooth 4.0 technology ensures optimal streaming performance and removes the need for an internet connection so you can really take the party anywhere.

The BeoPlay A2 comes in green, black and grey.
