A note from Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu corroborates recent rumours that Apple will be launching two new lower-cost AirPods later this year.
According to Pu, these new models will be made by a Foxconn-owned company in India and that production will ramp up in Q4 this year.
This aligns with earlier rumours that Apple will ramp up production for its new lower-cost AirPods later this year. These new models will likely feature USB-C charging cases and improved fit.
Pu also said that Apple will update the AirPods Max later this year. According to him, Apple won't make dramatic changes to its flagship wireless headphones, and the big change will likely only be a switch from a Lightning port to a USB-C port.
Apple hasn't updated its basic AirPods in years. The latest entry-level AirPods (3rd generation) was released in 2021, while the AirPods Max was released back in 2020. The AirPods Pro is not expected to be updated since it was only refreshed last year.
