WhatsApp just announced that it is rolling out a new user interface for iOS and Android.
The first update is a new and consistent green palette within the instant messaging app. It also increased the usage of neutral colours so that the company can be more selective about where and how green is used.
For Android users, there is now a darker dark mode. This is based on user feedback and WhatsApp's dark mode is now one shade darker for improved visual appeal and legibility.

Icons are the next in line to get a refresh. Meta says the icons now have a rounded, outlined style. Illustrations are also updated to match the new iconography with added animation.
The original default background, doodle, is given an overhaul with new options that are simply in style and better represent a diverse set of people and objects.
Navigation on WhatsApp is now easier thanks to a native bottom navigation bar on Android. Meta says the placement of tabs closer to the user's thumbs offers more natural navigation and matches the current experience on Android devices.
There is a new attachment tray for iOS users.
For iOS users, sending photos and videos is easier with a new attachment layout. An expandable tray will pop up instead of a full-screen menu to allow users to see the features more clearly when sending content.
The last and most important new feature is chat filters for better chat management. Since the navigation bar is now at the bottom for Android users, WhatsApp can put filters at the top of the chat lists so that the right conversations can be accessed without the hassle of scrolling. Moreover, WhatsApp users can select between unread and group filters with just one tap.
