WhatsApp now has 900 million monthly users, up from 800 million in April

WhatsApp now boasts over 900 million monthly active users, which is an increase of 100 million monthly active users in April.

WhatsApp, the world's most popular instant messaging (IM) app reaches a new milestone today!

According to CEO and co-founder Jan Koum, WhatsApp now has 900 million monthly active users. More than four months ago, the instant messaging app had 800 million monthly active users. If WhatsApp is able to maintain the momentum, it will be on track to hitting one billion users by end of the year!

Facebook now has two of the world's most popular IM apps with its Messenger service boasting over 700 million monthly active users in June.
