Browse without limits with Vivaldi's latest release of its innovative browser

Vivaldi 2.10 improves site compatibility and lets you match your browser theme with your OS.

Here's Vivali's last update of this decade

Just a couple months after their arrival on Android, and Vivaldi has just announced what they’re calling “their last update of the decade” – Vivaldi 2.10. This update will fix the issue of "user agent sniffing" to give you the best website compatibility while browsing.

In case you’re wondering what this means, the “user agent” is basically an identifier that tells the web server what browser you’re using so it can send it a version of the webpage that’s most compatible with it. What Vivaldi has found is that some websites are actively blocking their browser when it announces its true name, giving you the error message that the browser is incompatible.

This is despite the fact that Vivaldi is a Chromium-based browser and so should work on any website that works on Chrome. To get around this, Vivaldi 2.10 will no longer announce itself to be "Vivaldi", but rather identify itself as a Chrome browser. This means a smoother browser experience for you, but also means that Vivaldi’s browser rankings will disappear, because any visits on a Vivaldi browser will now register as visits for Chrome. That’s a price Vivaldi says its willing to pay for their users.

The other big addition with this update is that Vivaldi 2.10 will now be able to match browser themes to the theme of your operating system. To match the themes according to the OS you’re using, go to Settings → Themes → Scheduled Themes → Use Operating System Theme. You can then pick any pre-installed or custom theme to be used in light and dark mode.

Other improvements include changes in the Address Bar layout along with some tweaks in keyboard handling, better extension toggling with which you can show or hide the hidden extensions, and significant quick commands performance improvements.

If all this sounds good to you, head to Vivaldi to get the latest version of their browser.
