Like it or not, the Edge displays are here to stay.

According to the U.S Patent and Trademark Office, Samsung has filed a trademark for "Apps Edge" which suggests that the company may be considering developing a special app section or store. The application specifically states that Apps Edge is a "software for use in organizing and allowing quick access to frequently used applications".

It is speculated that Samsung may introduce APIs for developers to start coding apps to make use of the Edge displays on the Galaxy Note Edge 4G+, Galaxy S6 Edge 4G+ and the upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. At the moment, there is limited app support for the Edge displays.
