Salesforce completes its acquisition of Tableau to the tune of US$15.7 billion

Salesforce acquires Tableau to mark the amalgamation of “the world’s #1 CRM with the world’s #1 analytics platform.”

Salesforce has completed its deal to acquire Tableau that’s valued at US$15.7 billion. This all-stock deal was announced by Salesforce in June this year, and its speedy completion marks the amalgamation of “the world’s #1 CRM with the world’s #1 analytics platform.”

With Tableau, Salesforce intends to let its customers on its CRM platform make use of Tableau to gain better insights of their data and make better business decisions. In return, Tableau will be able to carry on its vision of “helping the world see and understand data.” According to Salesforce, the the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK’s antitrust regulator is reviewing the company’s acquisition.

While pending CMA’s review, the two companies will operate separately.
