Do uninstall QuickTime for Windows immediately as two new vulnerabilities affecting it have been uncovered. To make matters worse, Apple has stopped supporting the affected software.

Two new vulnerabilities affecting QuickTime for Windows have been uncovered. There will be no security patches released by Apple and it is highly recommended that you uninstall the affected software from your Windows system immediately!

If you think we are overreacting, well, there are two good reasons. First, Apple has officially stopped support for QuickTime for Windows. This doesn’t affect Mac OS users. Second, Trend Micro has issued a warning on two new critical security vulnerabilities that affect QuickTime for Windows. A quick perusal of the two security advisories by Trend Micro reveal the security flaw lies with the QuickTime Player software. A hacker can use the affected software to execute malicious code. The hack can be delivered through a malicious file or an affected website. So if you still insist on using QuickTime for Windows, we strongly suggest disable the QuickTime plug-in on your browsers, especially if you are visit any unfamiliar websites. However, most webpages these days don’t rely on this web plug-in to deliver the media content. Also, don’t use the QuickTime Player to view any unfamiliar video files that are supported by the software. But it’s still best to err on the side of caution and remove QuickTime for Windows from your system.
