Oura just announced its latest smart ring, the Oura Ring 4.
Besides making the all-titanium design thinner, the Oura Ring 4 is now available in twelve sizes (4 - 15) to cater to a wider range of users and comes in six colours (brushed silver, gold, rose gold, silver, stealth, and an updated black finish with a deeper black look.
The star of the show is no doubt the Smart Sensing technology, which is available exclusively on the Oura Ring 4.
Oura's Smart Sensing technology consists of an algorithm and new research-grade sensors with more than double the number of available signal pathways (from 8 to 18) than the Oura Ring 3.
Unlike the sensors on the Oura Ring 3 which are housed in raised domes, the new sensors on the Oura Ring 4 are recessed for more comfort.
These allow the Oura Ring 4 to consistently gather more accurate data in any condition and achieve up to 8 days of battery life due to power optimisation. How much more precise is the Smart Sensing technology compared to the Oura Ring 3?
Oura says the findings of an external research study revealed a 30% increase in accuracy in average overnight SpO2 reading, 15% more accurate breathing disturbance index (BDI), 7% fewer gaps in daytime heart rate monitoring, and 31% fewer gaps in night time heart rate tracking.

Aside from the Oura Ring 4, the company also updated the companion app with a simpler and faster interface.
The interface is now organised into three sections - Today, Vitals, and My Health, which can be accessed via tabs across the bottom of the home screen:
- The Today tab shows relevant information throughout the day based on the time, and the user's unique biometric and health goals. Additionally, the Today tab provides an overview of the user's readiness, sleep, activity, menstrual cycle day, daytime heart rate and stress scores via Score Shortcuts.
- The Vital tab provides deeper insights into each of the scores.
- The My Health Tab offers long-term, slower-moving metrics like Cardiovascular age, cardio capacity, stress resilience and sleep trends.
The Oura app is rolling out today and will be available to all Oura members in the next few weeks.
