Optimised Battery Charging is coming to the Apple Watch and AirPods

With Optimised Battery Charging enabled, Apple Watch and AirPods will attempt to charge past 80% only when needed.

When Apple released iOS 13 last year, it included a feature called Optimised Battery Charging for iPhone users. In a nutshell, this tries to prolong your battery’s lifespan by monitoring your daily charging habits and ensuring that it doesn’t charge past 80% unnecessarily.

According to 9to5Mac, Optimised Battery Charging is also coming to the Apple Watch through watchOS 7. Like on the iPhone, you can find this option under Settings > Battery > Battery Health. And again like the iPhone, it watches your daily Watch charging routine to predict the correct moment to charge past 80%.

This Battery Health section is also where you see the relative age of your Watch’s battery, For instance, you usually see a maximum capacity reading of 100% when the battery is new — so if you see 90%, it means the battery has worn out a bit and is now capable of holding about 90% of its original charge.

Update:  AirPods, too, on iOS 14!
