Microsoft's Edge browser in the latest Windows 10 test build now supports extensions

At the moment, you can only try out the Mouse Gestures, Microsoft Translator, and Reddit Enhancement Suite extensions, but more are coming later this year.

Microsoft has just released new Windows 10 PC and Mobile test builds (14291) for Insiders on the Fast ring. What’s exciting about this build is that on the PC, this is the first time we get to try extensions in the Edge browser.

At the moment, you can only try out the Mouse Gestures, Microsoft Translator, and Reddit Enhancement Suite extensions, but more from AdBlock, Adblock Plus, Amazon, LastPass, and Evernote are coming later this year. More info on extensions in Edge can be found in this blog post.

That aside, Edge now lets you pin tabs, making it easy to keep your most-used sites and web apps always available. There are also new ‘Paste and go’ and ‘Paste and search’ options (when you do a right-click) after you paste a link or words into the address bar.

Other improvements in Build 14291 include an updated Maps app, updated Alarm & Clock app, a one-handed kana touch keyboard for Japanese text typing, and a new Japanese lined-mode Text Input Canvas.

Expectedly, this build has its share of bugs. More details, including what’s fixed on both PC and mobile, can be found in this blog post.
